Starting Points for Big Ideas
Ready-to-use designs crafted to inspire creativity and make getting started easier.
THE CHALLENGE
Creating templates wasn’t simply a matter of producing more content. Every design needed to inspire creativity, feel relevant to emerging trends, and work seamlessly within an evolving ecosystem of tools, graphics, fonts, and effects.
The challenge was building a library that could serve marketers, small businesses, and everyday creators alike while making it easier for people to move from blank canvas to finished design.
MY ROLE
I led the strategy and execution of PicMonkey’s template ecosystem, guiding an external team of designers while shaping the systems, standards, and workflows that enabled creative production at scale.
My work spanned art direction, quality reviews, content organization, trend research, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring every template balanced creative expression with usability and aligned with broader product and brand initiatives.
DESIGN SYSTEMS FOR CREATIVITY
Building thousands of creative experiences required more than design production. Systems were developed to support ideation, asset management, visual consistency, and rapid iteration across a growing library of content.
Creative references, prioritization frameworks, and feedback loops allowed the team to move quickly while maintaining quality. Close partnerships across Product, Marketing, and UX ensured templates supported both user needs and broader platform initiatives.
IMPACT
Over the course of a year, our team designed and launched more than 20,000 creative assets and templates across the PicMonkey and Shutterstock ecosystems.
More importantly, these libraries transformed the product experience. Templates reduced blank-canvas anxiety, accelerated creative workflows, and helped millions of people move from inspiration to finished design with greater confidence and ease.
Every template was designed to do one thing: help creativity start faster.
