Where Big Ideas Come to Life
Designing the creative playground for millions of makers, dreamers, and doers.

OVERVIEW

As Principal Product Designer, I helped lead the transformation of PicMonkey’s desktop editor into a powerful, intuitive space where anyone could create at scale.

Working closely with UX design and engineering teams, I designed icon systems, crafted tool interfaces, built scalable UI elements, and developed expansive content libraries from graphics to textures to fonts.

The goal was simple but ambitious. We wanted to make professional-level creativity feel effortless and inspiring for everyday users, across any project and any skill level.

DESIGNING TOOLS THAT WORK AT THE SPEED OF CREATIVITY

Building for desktop meant creating a workspace that could stretch to fit big ideas without slowing users down. Every slider, control, toolbar, and popout was designed to feel fast, intuitive, and quietly powerful, giving users just enough structure without boxing them in.

I designed scalable systems for layouts, spacing, and interactions, partnering closely with UI designers and developers to bring them to life across the platform. The goal was simple: create an environment that stayed flexible, organized, and ready for anything users could imagine without ever getting in the way of their flow.

SPEAKING FLUENT CREATIVE

Icons are the quiet heroes of the creative process. I led the design of PicMonkey’s desktop icon system, creating a visual language that made tools instantly recognizable without distracting from the creative flow.

Each icon had to feel effortless and intuitive, communicating action at a glance without adding visual noise. Clarity, consistency, and a little spark of personality kept the editor feeling lively and easy to navigate, even for first-time users.

FUEL FOR THE FIRE

Beyond the tools themselves, PicMonkey needed assets that inspired users to take the next creative step. I designed and curated expansive libraries of fonts, graphics, textures, and templates that lived directly inside the editor, ready whenever inspiration struck.

Every asset was built to feel flexible enough for a social post or strong enough to support a full brand identity. Our goal was to make sure users never hit a wall — only a spark.

The best creative tools stay invisible until the moment you need them.

Building PicMonkey’s desktop editor meant creating a playground where every idea, big or small, could take off.
